Active Learning During School Closure

April 5, 2021

Dear Room 8 Families,
With this being the last week before Spring Break, there are lots of things planned for the 7th & 8th graders.  We will continue reading our novel The Girl Who Drank the Moon together in class and completing quizzes, vocabulary, and literary analysis pages each day.  The class will also present their Amendment Projects to help us prep for the Constitution Test.  Their presentations will happen this Friday.  We will continue working with our CPM Math curriculum as well as weekly Math Review pages. To celebrate the coming of Spring Break, we will also take some time to have a little fun.  On Wednesday and Thursday we will spend part of our morning doing some spring related directed drawings, playing some safe games outside and also playing some spring trivia Kahoots. This will help start our well deserved break on a positive note.

Lea Manglesdorf is doing a wonderful job running our Homework Club on Mondays & Wednesday for 7th graders and Tuesdays & Thursdays for 8th graders.  It is a great place for students to get some work done from 1:30 to 2:30 on those days. Please encourage your students to take advantage of this quiet place to work and get some assistance if needed.

Please remember that students need to bring the following with them to school each day:  1) Mask; 2) Snack; 3) Lunch; 4) Water Bottle; 5) Math textbook & Literature Novel; 6) Computer (fully charged at 100%).  These items should be brought to school each day in a backpack.  If students do not have their computers fully charged each day when they arrive on campus, they will not be able to complete their assignments with the class.  Also, do not forget to do your Daily Health Screening before you arrive at school and check in on the days you are not on campus from 2-2:30, Monday through Thursday.

Below you will find our Room 9 Weekly Schedule describing what we will be working on this week.  Below that is our 7th & 8th Grade In-Class and Falcon Academy Schedule which details what we do each day.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about your student.
