Brunner's Bulletin - Week of Sept. 30
Happy Monday Awesome 5/6 Families,
I hope you are all having an amazing start to the week! It looks like it will be another warm week, please ensure your child has a refillable water bottle. I have a water filter that students are welcomed to use, however, I'm completely out of disposable cups. If someone would like to donate plastic/paper cups, that would be amazing for the kiddos who sometimes forget.
Conferences: I will be reaching out today via email to those parents who need a new time. Please keep an eye out for an email from me. Thanks!
Classroom Update:
Last week, students worked very hard completing their Personal Narrative stories. This week, we are going in to do revisions and practice the skills of revising. We are wrapping up our Ancient Mesopotamia Projects and students will be working in groups to make a poster of their topic.

Note From Ms. Kaney about 6th Grade Math
It’s a short week with a short homework packet (just one page!) this week. We had our first Chapter test last week, and are moving on to Chapter 2. I plan to pop into 6th grade conferences next week, so I look forward to seeing parents.
Homework:
Homework was reviewed in class. If they are unclear on a portion, no worries, remind them to advocate for themselves and I'll be sure to review the directions. This week's homework is light as it is a shortened week.
What's for homework?
- Life Skills - 1. Deciding between what is Healthy and Unhealthy - 2. Create Affirmations - they will be given post-its on Thursday so they can hang up their affirmations.
- Writing: Halloween Themed Creative Writing
- Reading Log - As part of our commitment to fostering a love for reading, our goal for each student is to engage in 20 minutes of reading each day. While many students are already meeting this target, some are still developing their enjoyment of reading. Next week, students will be encouraged to increase their reading minutes in alignment with their personal goals. Your support at home can make a significant difference in helping them reach this objective.
- Math Packet - 5th grade Math has a homework helper page in their Interactive Notebook.
Current Events in the Classroom: Ask your child about
- Personal Narratives:
- Ancient Mesopotamia
- 5th Math: Place Value into the Decimals/ Powers of 10 - Exponents
- Classroom Jobs were assigned last week - Ask what job they got
- Starbucks Hour
- Music Elective: Ukulele, Music Tech, Choir
- Music Extracurricular: Steel Pan Drums and Strings
