Brunner's Bulletin - Week of Nov. 4
Happy November Awesome 5/6 Families,
I hope you all enjoyed Halloween and the 3 day weekend. Here’s what’s happening:
- There is a board meeting tonight Monday, November 4th at 5:30. Information, including a google meet link, is on the school website.
- Thank you for the snacks we have gotten! We could use more- these kiddos are hungry!! They love protein granola bars, applesauce pouches, chips of any kind, cuties, apples, pretzels, trail mix, and loads of other snacks. Feel free to send any snacks you can donate in with your student and thank you!!
- There will be a Booster Club meeting in Room 8 on Wednesday, November 6th at 3:15.
- There is no school next Monday, November 11th, in observance of Veterans’ Day.
- Friday, November 22nd is a 1:30 release day. Fall break is the week of November 25th, no school all week.
- Please check out the homework portion of the newsletter, as there is something new in the homework this week. If you would not like your student to complete a portion, please have them come to me tomorrow for the alternative assignment.
Homework:
Homework is reviewed with students every Monday. If they are unclear on a portion, remind them to advocate for themselves and I'll be sure to review the directions.
What's for homework?
- Life Skills: No Life Skills - We are working on getting our NEW November Project (Gratitude Slideshow) up and going.
- Writing: Voting Age using the Race Strategy
**3. Candidate Research: students that will help them practice important skills in gathering and understanding information. The task is to research basic facts about a political candidate, including their date and place of birth, education, early life, and any significant accomplishments. This exercise is designed to give students a chance to explore public figures, develop their research skills, and engage in a real-world activity that ties into our social studies curriculum.
Please know that we are mindful of the age-appropriate nature of this assignment. If any student feels uncomfortable at any point during this activity, we have provided an alternative assignment to ensure they can still participate in a meaningful way without distress.
- Reading Log
- Math Packet - 5th grade daily homework until test review packet. 6th grade math packet
Current Events in the Classroom: Ask your child about
- NEW debit cards given to students on Tuesday. Students earn Brunner Bucks by completing their classroom jobs, setting goals and achieving their goals.
