Dear Families,

I hope you all had a wonderful and restful break! There is not much to report ere is what is happening this week:

  • There is a Booster Club meeting in Room 8 on Wednesday the 24th, at 3:15.

  • Family Bingo Night is this Friday from 5:30 - 8:00. Please contact the office if you have any questions.

  • Friday Fun Day is this Friday and the theme is neon colors!

  • We will get to enjoy a dance performance this Thursday and an arborist presentation and tree planting on Friday.

  • We are making one more attempt for volunteers for Mini Classes. Please let me or the office know if you are able to facilitate a class for our students. The idea is to have 2 sessions, 1 hour each, on June 6th and 7th (1:30 - 2:30). If you can only do one day, there might be other volunteers who can split the days with you.

That is all for now! Have a fantastic week!

Take Care,

Liz Kadle

CARDBOARD CHALLENGE

Our class will be starting a “Cardboard Challenge.'' This is a fun STEM activity that we will do over the next few weeks. It is an integrated lesson involving Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, and Writing. Each group of students will design and draw a model, then build an arcade style game. They will build these games out of cardboard and recycled household items. When the students finish their arcade games, we will have a game day and families will be invited to come and play.

I am asking, if you're able, to help donate some of the recycled items for this. We are looking for things like plastic cups, paper towel/toilet paper tubes, plastic lids/tops of any size, tape of any kind, and/or any recycled materials that could be used to help make a functional and creative arcade game. Please don’t send glass and metal items.

I am including a link to the video we will be watching tomorrow, if you would like to see the idea behind this cardboard challenge.

We will keep you updated as we move along with this fun and exciting project.

Thank you for your help,

Liz Kadle
